mimoOn and Eden Rock Communications, LLC have formed a partnership to accelerate the deployment of Self-Organizing Networks for heterogeneous networks. SON features are an integral component of 4G Long Term Evolution networks with standards bodies such as 3G Partnership Program (3GPP) and Next Generation Mobile Networks actively working on the definition of SON.
Eden Rock’s SON solution provides substantial gains in network performance via Eden Rock’s novel multi-site dynamic radio resource optimization algorithms and intelligent SON triggers. The Eden-NET Embedded Agent is a component of the system that is embedded directly into mobile base stations in order to define performance metrics and collect and pre-process automatic updates to a localized LTE base station (eNodeB) scheduler.

mimoOn is currently integrating the Eden-NET™ Embedded Agent with its 3GPP LTE eNodeB PHY and its LTE eNodeB Protocol STACK for availability in Q1 2012. “By integrating the Eden-NET Embedded Agent with our eNodeB STACK, mimoOn and Eden Rock offer a winning combination to both network operators and their equipment vendors,” explains Willem Mulder, mimoOn VP of Standards and IP. “Small cell eNodeB vendors will have access to an integrated LTE eNodeB PHY, STACK + SON agent solution that reduces their product development efforts and time.”

“Eden Rock has been actively establishing strategic partnerships with domain leaders within the wireless ecosystem in order to enhance the value of our SON solution,” commented Chaz Immendorf, President and CEO of Eden Rock Communications. “mimoOn is the industry leader in software solutions for small footprint LTE base stations making them the ideal partner for the extension of our SON solution into the small cell space.”
