The award for our PCIe/104 SBC from one of Germany’s leading magazines for automation technology highlights the significance of FPGA technology in designing embedded computing devices. The demand for extremely space-saving solutions with increasingly high levels of integration and customizable interfaces is on the rise, Norbert Hauser, Vice President, Marketing at Kontron explains. The Kontron PCIe/104 SBC MSMST delivers the ideal platform on which to launch straight into development.
The board has been designed for applications that need to be reliable when functioning in the industrial temperature range of -40 to +85°C. The Kontron PCIe/104 SBC MICROSPACE MSMST is also highly adaptable with respect to I/O design due to the integrated FPGA. Target application markets for the SBC include industrial automation, medical technology, energy, transportation and Military/Aerospace as well as in telecommunications. With application-ready, validated IP cores and the corresponding High Speed Mezzanine Cards (HSMC), which physically execute the required interfaces, OEMs can start with their application development immediately and benefit from the reduced development effort, faster time-to-market and lower Total Cost of Ownership. The integrated Intel Atom processor has a maximum clock speed of 1.3 GHz and is equipped with 2 GB of onboard system memory. The SBC has software support for Windows, Linux and VxWorks. Further operating systems are available on request.
