Microscan’s Visionscape Machine Vision Software Wins Distinguished Industry Award

Microscan announced that it has been awarded a Global Technology Award in the category of Anti-Counterfeiting Tools for its Visionscape® Machine Vision Software. The award was presented to the company during a Tuesday, October 26, 2010 ceremony that took place during SMTA International at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, FL.
Microscan’s Visionscape® software is the most innovative software on the market with an extensive array of features available to inspect multiple parameters for anti-counterfeiting (ability to precisely match visuals of authentic parts, and recognize differences invisible to the naked eye for non-matching parts – i.e. shape, location, mark content, other scratched surface areas, etc.). In addition to extensive visual inspection and measurement parameters, the software provides identification and traceability of barcodes, 2D symbols and Optical Character Recognition (OCR).

Machine vision inspection consists of narrowly defined tasks such as counting objects on a conveyor, reading serial numbers, and searching for surface defects. Manufacturers often prefer machine vision systems for visual inspections that require high-speed, high magnification, around-the-clock operation, and/or repeatability of measurements.

Visionscape® software can provide 100 percent quality control in manufacturing, reducing costs and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. While human inspectors working on assembly lines visually inspect parts to judge the quality of workmanship, machine vision systems use cameras and image processing software to perform similar inspections.
