Microscan Asserts Cognex Patent Infringement Claim to be Without Merit

Microscan today affirmed its position that a patent infringement lawsuit filed against the company by Cognex Corporation of Natick, MA is without merit. The lawsuit alleges that Microscan’s Mobile Hawk, a handheld product used to read Direct Part Mark codes, infringes on a patent held by Cognex.

Microscan President, Scott Summerville, stated, “Microscan has made Cognex fully aware of its belief that the patent alleged is not infringed by the Mobile Hawk and that the relevant patent claims in any event are invalid. Microscan will be defending its rights to fairly compete with Cognex to the fullest extent available.”

Microscan prides itself on a culture of innovation, holding over 100 patents for automatic identification and machine vision technologies that span the company’s 30+ year history. A provider of track, trace, and control solutions to ensure process efficiency, supply chain traceability, and product quality, Microscan is the inventor of the first laser diode barcode scanner, the industry standard 2D symbology, Data Matrix, and the AutoVISION machine vision product suite.
