Marl staff raise over £1000 for cancer charity

The Rosemere Ramblers, an intrepid team from Marl International and friends walked 40 miles from Keswick to Barrow in England’s Lake District, raising over £1000 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation. Fund raising is still on-going.

Led by Marl Marketing Assistant, Corrina Ive, the team also included Marketing Co-ordinator Arianna Rawlinson, Managing Director Adrian Rawlinson, Non-Executive Director Terry Lord, Production Manager Colette Porter, Production Supervisor Jo Braithwaite, Engineering Supervisor Alan Otway, PA Hannah Shaw from Grosvenor House Papers Ltd and Primary School Teacher Tom Morgan from Stramongate Primary School in Kendal. The charity supported by the team, the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, provides additional facilities and equipment for patients being treated at the Cancer Centre in Preston and local Cancer Units throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. Members of the Marl team have a personal connection with the Cancer Centre in Preston.

Commenting, Corrina Ive said, “The Rosemere Ramblers showed characteristic strong spirit, and greatly enjoyed the occasion. We were delighted to raise a worthwhile sum for a very deserving cause and at the same time get some beneficial exercise and enjoy the wonderful scenery in the part of England where we are fortunate enough to be based.”

The 40 mile Keswick to Barrow Walk is an annual sponsored event that has been running since 1966 . It is common for over 2000 walkers start the walk, and charity donations of over £150,000 to be reached with each walk. Over 44 years of walking, £1,642,607 has been raised and more than 1.860,000 miles have been covered.
