LSI Extends Multicore Processor Portfolio to Enterprise and Data Center Infrastructure

LSI Corporation announced the availability of the company’s portfolio of asymmetric multicore silicon solutions and software for use in enterprise and data center networking applications. The portfolio allows networking OEMs to use LSI advanced communications, media, content and security and link communication processors to build enterprise networks that deliver increased levels of intelligence, control and security.
Based on a unified asymmetric multicore architecture, the LSI portfolio of networking silicon and software offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for the development of next-generation enterprise infrastructures. Combining LSI capabilities such as award-winning traffic management and classification, quality of service, voice and video transcoding, security processing and deep packet inspection, the portfolio uniquely provides all the key capabilities required for enterprise and data center applications while minimizing time-to-market and maximizing software reuse.

The anytime, anywhere access requirements of data center and enterprise networks requires an architecture that can dynamically support voice, video and data, said Lucinda Borovick, research vice president, Data Center Networks, IDC. * StarPro® SP2700 media processor family, including a video software framework enabling media-aware enterprise networking features such as real-time transcoding and transrating.
* LSI Tarari Content and Security Processors, featuring the innovative T2500 that uses deep packet inspection to recognize which data streams contain malware and which should be prioritized for better performance.
* Link Communication Processor (LCP), delivering multi-service WAN connectivity for data center, enterprise and branch office routers.
* APP3100 multicore communication processor, providing networking equipment OEMs with a space-efficient and cost-effective solution for accelerating Carrier Ethernet and network security functions.
