Low power wireless network securely connects hundreds of devices

ON Semiconductor has become a member of the Thread Group. This move underlines the company’s commitment to implementing IoT technology across all key application areas. Thread is the latest IP-based low-power wireless mesh networking protocol designed specifically for the home. It is designed to easily and securely connect 100’s of devices to each other and directly to the cloud using real Internet Protocols in a low-power, wireless mesh network.

The NCS3651x family of 2.4GHz low power transceivers was introduced late last year in support of ON Semiconductor’s IoT initiative. Developed using the company’s expertise in highly integrated mixed-signal technology and RF design, all devices are optimised for low power consumption and high efficiency with single supply operation from a standard battery (1.0 to 3.6V) and best in class low receive and transmit currents.

They are suitable for use in low data rate, intermittent communication for smart metering, home automation, building automation, lighting and other IoT applications.
