IDT has introduced three high definition PC audio codecs. The high fidelity audio codecs are designed to help bring home-entertainment-level audio fidelity to next generation desktop and high-end notebook systems, whilst supporting mobile user capabilities such as advanced processing for voice over Internet protocol (VoIP). Demonstrating the IDT commitment to providing customers with the lowest possible power consuming devices, the new IDT codecs offer unprecedented levels of power efficiency for both desktop and notebook applications.
The new codecs incorporate IDT proprietary technology to achieve digital-to-audio conversion signal-to-noise ratio in excess of windows logo program (WLP4) requirements. Moreover, the IDT codecs provide the best-in-industry ability to minimize unwanted audio artefacts, such as “pops” and “clicks”, during system power up. The devices incorporate an added analogue mixer and support for up to four digital microphones providing advanced voice clarity for applications such as VoIP and voice recognition.

Using IDT competitive audio methodology, the three new audio devices incorporate common advanced features with each family member optimized for its market segment. The IDT IDT92HD73C, IDT92HD73D and IDT92HD73E feature 6, 8, and 10 stereo channels respectively, enabling simultaneous audio and VoIP capability. Combined with the IDT proprietary software suite, the devices each provide an unparalleled audio user experience in desktop or notebook applications. The 6-channel device provides advanced audio capabilities for high-end multimedia notebook applications; the 8-channel IDT audio codec is designed for ultra-high end consumer notebooks or desktop-based consumer entertainment systems. The 10-channel IDT codec provides best-in-class audio for high-end entertainment desktop applications.

Like all IDT HD audio codecs, the new devices provide stereo 24-bit resolution with sample rates up to
192 kHz and dual digital SPDIF outputs to enable simple integration with multi-channel consumer entertainment equipment, including audio integration with system HDMI video. In addition, the new devices are compatible with the Intel high definition (HD) audio interface.
