QuickLogic Europe is making its low power FPGA devices available in smaller 6x6 and 8x8 mm form-factor FPGA packages. The advanced packaging meets the aggressive requirements of handheld electronics integrating storage, wireless, mobile TV and other emerging technologies.
Handheld device manufacturers continue to have time-to-market, cost, battery life and PCB area constraints. QuickLogic continues to deliver innovative solutions that solve these fundamental challenges, said Owen Bateman of QuickLogic Europe. In short, we've made it our goal to address the critical issues of the portable designer.

The BGA packaging is available for QuickLogic's PolarPro and Eclipse II FPGA ranges, both of which offer extremely low power consumption. The 8x8 mm BGA-packaged PolarPro devices are available with a choice of gate counts from 75,000 to 300,000. Two Eclipse II devices gates are offered in BGA: a 190,000 gate device in 8x8 mm, plus a 64,000 gate device in 6x6 mm.

8x8 mm PolarPro and Eclipse II devices are available and sell for $3 in high-volume quantities. The 6x6 mm Eclipse device is available today starting at $2.04 in high volume.

The BGA packaged devices are supported by the QuickWorks 9.8.2 design and System General programming software.
