The new TriQuint TGA4819-SL linear optical modulator driver, which is available in the UK from Link Microtek, provides a number of key features for designers of high-speed fibre-optic communication systems, including built-in automatic gain control, a small form factor and a maximum data rate of 12.5Gbit/s.
Primarily aimed at Mach-Zehnder applications in OC-192 metropolitan and long-haul systems, the device is an excellent choice whenever high drive needs to be combined with high linearity.
The TGA4819-SL delivers a linear output voltage of up to 10Vpp while maintaining output harmonic levels near -30dBc for a 2GHz fundamental. It typically provides 20dB of small-signal gain with an AGC range of 20dB.

Housed in a surface-mount package measuring just 11.4 x 8.9 x 2.0mm, the new driver features single-ended input/output and internal DC blocks.
