On display at this year’s JK Lasers’ booth was the newly launched 1kW fiber laser, which is well suited for large medical devices with thick materials. In particular, the high powered JK1000FL is suitable for the welding of medical devices such as pacemakers to provide a hermetic seal, and the cutting of medical tools for surgical applications.
Mark Richmond, Product Manager for JK Lasers, said: “The exhibition was incredibly successful, with a steady flow of visitors expressing an interest in our lasers and process applications.
“The 1kW laser, which can incorporate up to four fibres, was particularly well-received. Its time-sharing capability maximises productivity by eliminating system load and unload times, whilst energy-sharing helps avoid the distortion of sensitive components by simultaneously welding multiple locations on one part. Both these features make the JK1000FL a versatile laser for businesses involved in the manufacture of medical devices.”
“People were also interested in incorporating fiber lasers into turnkey systems. Our recently added workstation – the JK System 5000 – with its customisable options such as linear and rotary axes, process tools and scan heads, means we are well placed to meet these requirements.”
JK Lasers will be exhibiting at Interphex Puerto Rico (20 & 21 October 2011), MD&M Minneapolis (1 – 3 November 2011) and MD&M West (14 – 16 February 2012).
