With a population of over 23 million, Shanghai is one of the most populous and densest cities in the world. This ensures that networks will always be in use so they always need to be up and running. Under this agreement, Huawei will provide preventive, planned and corrective maintenance services for China Unicom Shanghai’s network, which will allow the operator to concentrate solely on ensuring optimal network quality to its customers. Huawei will have full responsibility for maintaining the network.
China Unicom Shanghai chose Huawei as its managed services partner based on our expertise and our leadership in managed services, said Tang Xiaoming, Vice President of Huawei China. In general, our provision of managed services enables our customers to improve network availability, leverage network investment and reduce operating cost. In this case, Huawei’s maintenance of its network will allow China Unicom Shanghai to focus on its core business and launch new services for its customers quickly, easily and cost effectively.
To date, Huawei has provided managed services to more than 70 operators in 68 countries.
