First UL customer receives the UL Europe Mark

Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), a world leader in product safety testing and certification, today announced that Gruppo Cimbali has become the first company to obtain the UL pan European Mark (UL-EU). Cimbali, a leading commercial espresso coffee and cappuccino machine maker, will be able to display the UL-EU Mark, which indicates its products comply with European (EN) safety standards.

The two companies have been working together for 30 years, and now Cimbali has selected UL for the certification of its coffee machines for the European market. Cimbali exports its products to more than 100 countries, and the UL-EU Mark, in addition to the UL Listing Marks for Canada and the United States, provides the certification the company requires to help demonstrate the safety of its coffee machines sold around the world.

Our relationship with UL combines optimum safety standards with competitive advantage, said Luca Dussi, Operational Marketing & Communications Director at Cimbali. From the early design stage, UL engineers help us with the safety compliance of our products. Our ability to use the UL certification Mark helps us to export our coffee machines to the global marketplace quickly and efficiently. The introduction of the UL-EU Mark demonstrates UL’s ongoing commitment to supporting its customers’ safety requirements and global reach.

Global market access is a key priority for many companies, said Steve Wenc, Managing Director at UL in Europe. We welcome this extension of our long-term relationship with Cimbali, and look forward to supporting other manufacturers seeking global safety certification through a single source.

Manufacturers that obtain the UL-EU Mark have the opportunity to combine with the UL Listing Marks for Canada and the U.S., in the first transcontinental Mark available from UL’s portfolio. The benefits of the combined Mark include the efficiencies gained by taking a product under one submittal for two major strategic markets, and the ability to leverage that single source for post market compliance.
