RTI Data Distribution Service allows INTEGRITY users to deliver devices and systems that comply with the Object Management Group’s (OMG) DDS standard, the leading standard for real-time systems integration. A broad range of industries and programs have standardised on DDS to enable integration of heterogeneous real-time applications, including in aerospace, defense, power systems, industrial control and transportation.
DDS significantly reduces integration time and cost relative to traditional custom-built integration approaches. DDS applications communicate using the flexible publish-and-subscribe communication model. Applications simply publish the data they produce (for example, sensor data or commands) and subscribe to the data they consume. DDS middleware automatically discovers and connects publishers and subscribers at run-time. Individual applications do not require any knowledge of each other, making DDS well suited for dynamic and ad hoc systems.
“A wide range of embedded systems are now essential components of the enterprise,” said Dan Mender, vice president of business development, Green Hills Software. “Consequently, they must be easy to integrate with a broad range of disparate applications without compromising the safety and security of the embedded system. RTI Data Distribution Service executing within the separation policies core to the INTEGRITY RTOS architecture makes this possible, while also giving INTEGRITY users a true ‘plug-and-play’ integration capability.”
“We depend on distributed systems for everything from national defense to transportation to the power grid to medical care,” commented David Barnett, RTI’s vice president of marketing. “RTI’s standards-based Data Distribution Service platform in conjunction with the proven reliability and security of Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY RTOS provides the connectivity and robustness this critical infrastructure requires.”
