Future Technology Devices International Limited (FTDI) announces it has signed a non-exclusive distribution agreement with Analog World Co. The agreement covers all of FTDI’s USB connectivity ICs, including its latest intelligent USB Host bridge device, Vinculum. “We are pleased to be signing this agreement with AWC.” comments Steve Huang, Asia Pacific Regional Manager, FTDI. “AWC has an enviable position as a leading professional semiconductor distributor in Korea. They have over 20 years experience distributing and supporting global semiconductor brands. With a focus on embedded semiconductor devices, AWC is an ideal partner to supply our ICs to meet the growing Korean market demand for USB connectivity semiconductor devices.”
Vinculum bridges the gap between the increasing demand for USB Host function and the high design-in barrier to achieve it. It simplifies the development of USB Host connectivity across a wide range of industrial and commercial products that previously did not have such capability. With just a few components, Vinculum can provide the USB Host port even to a simple microcontroller-based product, for example, allowing use of USB flash drives on a portable data logger.

YS Ahn, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, AWC, comments, “We are delighted to add FTDI’s line-up to our portfolio. Their USB connectivity IC products are well respected by designers across Europe and the US. We believe that we complement their product expertise by providing local inventory and design-in support, and value-added integration through all our branded embedded semiconductor device line-ups. There is a growing demand for USB connectivity spanning almost every electronic product made. FTDI can deliver both slave and host bridge ICs to meet this need.”
