Fairchild Semiconductor Sponsors Turkey Trot Fittest Firm Competition

Fairchild Semiconductor is to participate in the Applied Materials ‘Silicon Valley Turkey Trot’. Fairchild is sponsoring the Fittest Firm Competition, one of several races within the race, which challenges every company in Silicon Valley to register as many employees as they can for the race. This year’s participation in the Fittest Firm Competition has more than doubled with over 190 companies and 1100 participants, up from 78 companies and 550 participants in 2008.

The Silicon Valley Turkey Trot is a fundraising run/walk event for the Santa Clara Family Health Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County. These charities provide families with their most basic needs for health, hope and a home.

“We’re pleased to be a sponsor of the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot. We feel it is important for Fairchild to support programs that help people in the communities where we work and live,” said Mark Thompson, Fairchild’s President and CEO. “We’re also participating and helping to raise funds for this program. This year we have over 60 Fairchild employees and their families taking part in the run/walk. Community involvement is a responsibility we take seriously, and each of our locations around the world participates and supports local programs.”

The Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, founded and produced by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, is in its fifth year. The total amount given to charity is expected to top $1 million by the time the last participant crosses the finish line.
