EnSilica has won the Queen's Award for International Trade. This latest and most prestigious award for EnSilica reflects the dynamic growth that the company has achieved over the last three years. Ian Lankshear, Managing Director and co-founder commented, "We are honoured to receive this recognition for everyone's hard work in turning EnSilica into major force in the British electronics Industry."

The driving force behind the recent growth of more than doubling sales and staff numbers over the past two years has been the new business model that the company adopted.

Founded as a services company in 2001, EnSilica decided to extend its services to include chip supply management.

David Doyle, EnSilica's Commercial Director, explained, "This full service meets a real need that our customers have. Turning the chip design that we do for them into finished chips requires a lot of experience and skills that many, medium-sized OEMs don't have. It is a multistage process involving a sequence of specialist companies that has to be planned and managed from specification, through design and wafer sourcing, to final tested chips. Customers know that they can trust us with their designs and increasingly they are now trusting us with the whole process of design to final silicon."

Ian Lankshear, concluded, "Because EnSilica has both chip and systems expertise, we can work with the customer to give them a highly competitive product, helping them through the use of custom silicon to reduce cost, size and power while improving differentiation, reliability, and IP and data security. We know every aspect of the design and required performance of a chip, which we use to guide every step of the chip supply process. For example, detailed system knowledge enables EnSilica to select the most appropriate process technology, to specify the best testing method from knowing every aspect of the chip's operation, and to choose the best packaging from knowing the operational parameters of the chip. This holistic approach ensures a highly effective and competitive solution for each customer."
