Energy Micro will launch three new energy-efficient product series in 2013, expanding the existing EFM32 Gecko ARM Cortex-M series of ultra low power microcontrollers by 50%. New products will include Cortex-M0+ and Cortex-M4F microcontroller series and ultra low power, multi-standard radio transceivers with integrated Cortex-M3 cores. In October 2012, the company secured an additional $12 million funding from a combination of new and existing investors to accelerate development of energy friendly MCUs and RF technology.
Geir Forre, the company’s CEO, comments, “We have a global customer base and enjoy spectacular success in Asia with solid growth in Europe and the Americas too. Growing demand for the most energy-efficient implementation of ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers has attracted two leading distributors to sign agreements with us in recognition of our clear product strategy and differentiation. EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers continue to lead the industry as the most energy-friendly devices for a host of applications including industrial and home automation, payment systems, enabling the internet of things, and in devices powered using energy harvesting technologies.”
On the Energy Micro booth at Electronica 2012 (A4.442) the company demonstrated a range of handheld electronic products that use EFM32 microcontrollers to extend battery life by up to 75%.
