Digi-Key Corporation’s Sales in Europe Prompt Increased Presence during electronica 2010

Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation is making its presence known Nov. 9-12 during the electronica 2010 trade show in Munich, Germany.
With a growing European customer base, Digi-Key's presence at electronica 2010 will be even bigger and better this year. Digi-Key's expanded presence at electronica 2010 is the result of increased growth in Germany and the broader European market.

Digi-Key has experienced impressive growth in Europe and, more specifically in Germany, in 2010. From January through September 2010, Digi-Key saw an increase in sales of more than 163% in Germany year over year, said Mark Larson, Digi-Key's president and COO. We believe this success is due to the fact that our customers in Europe are recognizing that Digi-Key stocks more board level components for immediate delivery than any other distributor in the world, performs for them on a regular basis and is committed to providing the best service possible.

Digi-Key's expanded presence at electronica 2010 includes a redesigned booth with an Americana theme and innovative surprises; the chance to win a 2010 Chevrolet Corvette and other prizes; appearances by Marilyn Monroe and Captain Jack Sparrow lookalikes; information kiosks and more.

Additionally, the Digi-Café is located across the hall adjacent to the Digi-Key booth (A5.576). There, attendees can purchase beverages, snacks or satisfying meals while taking a break from their busy schedules. Attendees can also stay connected at Digi-Key’s Wi-Fi Hotspot in Hall B3, where they can check their e-mail, browse the Internet, or take a break from the action.

Our expanded presence at electronica 2010 is a direct result of the growth we've experienced in Europe, which proves our customers are recognizing that Digi-Key is the ultimate source for their design engineering and purchasing needs, whatever they need, when they need it, Larson said.

In the past 18 months, we have seen a steady increase of unique visitors to our website, Larson said. We are providing more valuable online content that is easily accessible for our customers. They are recognizing that Digi-Key is more than a distributor; it’s a one-stop-shop for product sourcing, information, education, design support, technical support, and more.

Additionally, when comparing Digi-Key's website to other distributor websites through the Alexa® web information company, results show the worldwide reach, or number of users worldwide, for Digi-Key's website far exceeds that of its competitors' websites. This comparison also shows that Digi-Key's website has seen a greater increase in users worldwide than its competitors' websites in the last 18 months.
