Current limiters and thermistors are REACH-compliant

Inrush current limiters and NTC thermistors, manufactured by Ametherm, now conform to the requirements of the REACH (European Union’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) regulation. This regulation was introduced in 2007 to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, while enhancing the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry.

In order to reduce animal testing, the REACH regulation also promotes alternative methods for the hazard assessment of substances. As a REACH-compliant manufacturer, Ametherm’s products contain none of the chemicals on the Candidate List of 155 Substances of Very High Concern. For ensured safety, the company’s products are recognised by Underwriters Laboratories and the Canadian Standards Association, and many are RoHS-2 certified (with Exemption 7a and 7(c)-1).

Suitable applications for the inrush current limiters and NTC thermistors include AC motors, power supplies, motor drives, audio amplifiers, battery chargers, air sensors, HVAC systems, high-speed computers, MRIs, and X-ray machines.

“We are proud to only offer REACH-compliant products,” said Mehdi Samii, Vice President of Engineering, Ametherm. “Not only does it demonstrate our dedication to conducting an environmentally responsible business, but it helps our customers remain environmentally responsible as well.”
