CP Electronics has been specified for a highly prestigious contract in Australia. More than 400 of the company’s KNX-compatible compact ceiling mounted PIR presence detectors have been installed by local energy management and control systems integrator mySmartCTI at Winyu House - the new Australian Capital Territory (ACT) State Government offices in Canberra.

These simple-to-install products have been specifically designed for KNX applications and provide complete control of light levels to optimise energy efficiency and offer total flexibility. The four-storey building, which will accommodate approximately 600 employees, has been designed with a large public accessible ground floor with three levels of office space above, all connected through a central atrium which rises from the ground floor. The building will also house an ACT Government shop front, childcare centre and café on the ground floor.

Constructed to a high environmental standard with a minimum 4.5 star NABERS rating, the design uses energy efficient lighting with zone controls, along with natural light from the central atrium. Sustainability-enhancing features include a water reduction and harvesting system and future scalability for the installation of a PV array to the roof.

The internationally recognised KNX standard defines how devices should communicate with each other and allows systems to be constructed using components from a variety of manufacturers.

CP Electronics’ KNX detectors offer a number of configuration options which have been designed to provide the installer with maximum flexibility and reduced installation time. They feature two switch inputs, programmable logic block and full scene selection via an easy-to-use handset, which is set up via KNX ETS software. Absence detection is also a key feature of the range, along with walk test LED, light level sensor and user-configurable logic functions and timers.

Winyu House has set a benchmark in office space ergonomics and, with a KNX lighting control system designed by mySmartCTI using CP Electronics’ world-class KNX sensors, provides a great working environment for productivity and efficiency.
