Vector Software and Solid Sands have joined forces to integrate VectorCAST with SuperTest. This will reduce compiler revalidation time to the absolute minimum by only executing test cases which are impacted by compiler code changes. Reporting is in a standardised format, giving Project Management minimal disruption and an immediate shift back to on-time delivery.

“VectorCAST’s powerful Change-Based Testing now supports compiler revalidation through SuperTest, addressing customer demand to reduce or remove the impact of compiler changes on projects,” said William McCaffrey, COO at Vector Software. “Additionally, SuperTest users now have access to the power and reporting of VectorCAST’s test automation platform.”

“We are very excited that with this integration we are able to answer the demand we receive from compiler developers and users. For the compiler developer, SuperTest uses VectorCAST to examine the internal structure of the compiler to highlight points where unit tests need to be developed,” said Marianne Damstra, CCO at SolidSands. "For end users of open source compilers, particularly in safety-critical domains, this opens up a feasible route to improve compiler quality by tracing the impact of changes in new versions. It significantly reduces the effort required to qualify a compiler update by focusing on the new change through change-based testing.”
