New power transducers from Carlo Gavazzi take up just 45mm on the DIN rail, enabling a comprehensive range of electrical measurements in space-conscious applications. The CPT-DIN transducers are available in basic and advanced versions, providing OEMs with a choice of cost and functionality options within a DIN rail-mountable 45 x 83.5 x 98.5 mm Euro norm housing.

Example uses include remote monitoring of telecom antenna stations, in-machine monitoring of control gear and HVAC motor control.

The basic version provides both measurement and serial data retransmission for three-phase and single-phase systems. It is recommended for the measurements of both main electrical variables in electrical distribution systems or for monitoring power variables within machines. It boasts a comprehensive set of measurement functions, including thermal current measurements with peak storage for fuse-blow detection applications. The built-in hour counter facilitates maintenance planning, whilst RS-485 serial communications allows all data to be monitored via PC, PLC, SCADA or other systems.

These capabilities are extended in the advanced models, which add a wide variety of output options including serial, pulse and analogue signals. They feature 16 freely configurable alarms with OR/AND logic, linkable with up to 2 relays for PLC- type control functions. For example a system with one output related to supply parameters (low power supply voltage, phase loss, phase sequence, voltage supply asymmetry, all controlled by OR logic) and another to the load control (high single phase currents, low single phase power factors, high demanded power, all controlled by AND logic) would enable simultaneous PLC-like control of 11 variables.

A Dupline output is also available for retransmitting the energy consumption data and up to eight selectable variables. With Class 1 (kWh) measurement and pulse retransmission, the advanced transducer is suitable for critical applications. Energy measurements comply with the new EN62053-21 and EN62053-23 standards.

A dedicated multi-language software application called CptASoft makes it easy to programme measurement parameters and display variables from both basic and advanced transducers.

Two models, with maximum line-to-line input voltages of 250 and 800 VAC, cover the complete range of electrical systems. The units carry UR and CSA certification, along with an IP20 rating and CE mark.
