Following the acquisition last year of Cherry Corp by the ZF Group, the UK arm of the switches, sensors and CID (computer input devices) company, Cherry Electrical Products Ltd will now trade as ZF Electronics UK Limited. Founded over 90 years ago, ZF is a leading automobile supplier throughout the world for drive line and chassis technology, employing around 65,000 employees at 119 sites in 25 countries. It ranks among the 15 largest automobile suppliers worldwide.
The acquisition of Cherry resulted from ZF’s strategic and immediate desire to build an integrated competence in electronics. ZF expects to be able to “apply Cherry’s technology in its driveline and chassis product range very swiftly”.

Cherry was founded in 1953 and develops and produces switches, sensors, control units, and electronics modules for the automotive industry, components for industrial and household applications, and computer input devices. Cherry’s comprehensive know-how of electronics, software, mechatronics and plastics technology is currently incorporated in a wide range of systems including mechatronics modules, sensor systems, operating switches, selector lever modules, and keyless entry electronics.
