Charcroft Electronics Ltd has signed a franchise agreement with Barker Microfarads (BMI) to sell BMI’s aluminium electrolytic and AC motor-start capacitors throughout Europe. Ken Gunn, General Sales & Marketing Manager, BMI, explains, “This agreement gives BMI customers throughout Europe a franchised source for BMI parts. As a specialist distributor, Charcroft has a vast experience of supporting customers in applications such as mil-aero and industrial applications which require high performance and reliability combined with high-temperature operation.”
/> Edmund Coady, sales director of Charcroft Electronics, explains, “The BMI product range enables Charcroft to extend choice for customers with applications which require high stability combined with long operating lifetimes, or AC motor-start capacitors in standard or metal cases.”

Aluminium electrolytic capacitors are used extensively in military, aerospace and avionics applications, whilst applications for the AC starter capacitors include electric motors, pumps, air conditioning equipment, compressors, household appliances and garage door openers.

The BMI range comprises miniature axial, tubular axial and M39018 military-grade aluminium capacitors which operate over temperature ranges from -55ºC to +125ºC and feature ultra-low leakage and an efficient CV per case size. The radial capacitors operate over temperature ranges from -40ºC to +105ºC, and can be customised to meet low ESR, low DCL, and high ripple-current capability. The AC motor-start capacitors meet or exceed the EIA Standard RS- 463, Type I (heavy duty) and Type II (light duty) specification and are manufactured in the traditional phenolic case as well as a wide range of metal cases.
