TELEHOUSE America announces today that Optical Communications Group expands its fiber network into the new TELEHOUSE New York Chelsea data center facility. Situated at 85 10th Avenue in Manhattan, TELEHOUSE Chelsea Center offers both carriers and end-user clients high capacity, reliable and high performance network services with low cross connect fees, among other benefits.
OCG presently operates networks in Long Island, New Jersey, and New York City’s five boroughs, comprised of nearly 500 miles of fiber, nearly one hundred percent of which is underground. In addition to its new tenancy at TELEHOUSE Chelsea Center, OCG has been located at TELEHOUSE’s flagship facility, 7 Teleport Drive in Staten Island, since 2006.

“OCG prides itself on its ability to provide customers with low-cost, secure, quality solutions for all fiber transport needs,” states Brad Ickes, President of Optical Communications Group. “Colocating at TELEHOUSE’s newest data center here in New York more than aligns with these goals, and further enables us to exceptionally service our wide range of customers including enterprises, voice/data carriers, and government via a redundant, secure network.”

OCG is one of multiple carriers in the New York metro area with privileges to build and operate network here in the city, having obtained a franchise license in 2005. The company also completed the first segment build out of its Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk counties in 2005 in order to serve the submarine landing stations located there.

“We are proud to have OCG, a current network provider as one of TELEHOUSE New York Chelsea’s newest tenants,” comments Noriyuki Kita, Executive Vice President for TELEHOUSE America. “As the company continues its stellar growth pattern, we are honored to have OCG here at TELEHOUSE New York Chelsea, which provides increased options for high-performance, high speed connectivity, and much more.”

Open to the market in January 2011, Chelsea Center boasts best-in-class N+1 power infrastructure and multiple layer security measures to make it a strategic location for wholesale, enterprise, service providers and carrier clients.
