Board appointments reflect changing NMI membership

The National Microelectronics Institute (NMI), the trade association representing the semiconductor industry in the UK and Ireland, has appointed two new members to its Board of Directors: Patrick McNamee, VP Product Engineering, CSR and Anthony O’Neill, Professor in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at Newcastle University.

The appointments reflect the growth and importance of the UK fabless sector, and the significant role played by research and education in its on going success. Growing by more than 20% during 2006, NMI membership has also rapidly evolved to represent the complete spectrum of semiconductor activity in the UK, from fabless companies and IDMs through to design service providers and academia.

“We’re thrilled to welcome two such senior industry figures to the board,” said NMI’s CEO Derek Boyd, “Anthony and Patrick add even more depth to our very strong industry background, a vital strength of the NMI. We need to offer all of our members as much value as possible and provide greater support to the industry as a whole – these appointments help us do just that.”
