AWS Electronics Group is supporting the automotive sector by investing in an inline laser marker which the company says is more accurate and 30% faster than traditional automatic label marking previously used by the company. It also increases AWS’ board marking capacity by 50%.

AWS has won several significant automotive programs recently, both at its UK Technical Centre in the UK and its low manufacturing cost facility in Namestovo, Slovakia which is perfectly positioned to support Tier 1 auto suppliers wishing to benefit from competitive costs that are delivered close to their end-user factories in Europe. AWS’ Slovakian facility uses exactly the same processes, equipment and management systems that the company has developed for its UK plant.

Comments AWS’ Group Technical Director, Robert Lackey: “The Asys laser marking machine has been running now for three months at upwards of 4000 units per day (and increasing) and has yet to produce a single bad mark. We are particularly impressed by the machine’s read back function. It checks the QR codes to verify their authenticity, which gives us the confidence that there will be no issues during all other automatic read stations throughout the process.”
