AWS Electronics Group has received SC21 Silver Award Status for the second consecutive year for its ongoing quality and delivery performance. AWS were showing at this years Farnborough Air show for the first time and their success with SC21 was also echoed on other stands by the Midlands Aerospace Alliance which supports and represents the aerospace industry across the Midlands and which works closely with ADS, the trade body advancing UK aerospace, defence and security industries.

AWS’ 12 months delivery performance to its SC21 sponsor, General Dynamics UK was above 99 per cent and quality was measured at 248 defects per million opportunities (DPMO). The company scored over 500 on its lean manufacturing and business excellence framework performance. It is this consistently high performance which has resulted in the company achieving silver status – ahead of over 450 other suppliers to the aerospace industry, signed up for SC21.

Comments Mike Berridge, Director of Business Improvement at AWS: “We were showing for the first time at Farnborough this year and for both the MAA and ADS to involve us as part of a case study for successful SC21 implementation was important to us. We have put continuous improvement at the top of our business agenda and to be recognised in this way for two years running, an industry first, is something of which we are very proud.”
