Released in November 2012 by the Society of Automotive Engineers International G-19 distributor committee, the new standard released enables electronic components distributors in hgh reliability markets to help identify reliable sources to procure parts through supplier and vendor management; evaluate, mitigate and control the risk of fraudulent and counterfeit parts being distributed; and properly report suspect and confirmed fraudulent/counterfeit parts to other potential users.
“Obsolescence in components is increasing and the industry needed a response to protect the supply chain,” stated Eric Checkoway, Vice President/General Manager, Converge. “AS6081 is a comprehensive standard that will be required for the high reliability market. The bar for quality in supply has never been higher and now manufacturers will be able to better judge who they should engage with in the independent space. We are very proud that Converge is among the first globally to be certified.”
