Analog Devices Named Industry Leader at Prestigious Elektra Awards

Analog Devices, Inc. has won the Solid-State Lighting Application Award at the 2011 Elektra Awards. The award-winning innovation was ADI’s ADP8866 programmable LED driver, which claimed the top spot over competition including entries from Intersil, Marl International and NXP Semiconductors. ADI was also shortlisted for the Embedded System Product and Engineers of the Future awards.

Launched in April 2011, ADI’s ADP8866 programmable LED driver underwent rigorous judging criteria to be pronounced the leading LED technology for improving efficiency, cost and usage in a lighting application. The ADP8866 LED charge pump backlight driver features independent control of nine LED current sinks, programmable LED blinking sequences and low operating current drain. It offers the flexibility of independent LED control, which allows designers to program different currents for each channel and enable them at different times.

Requiring less than 1 µA during standby and less than 325 µA during automated blinking sequences, the ADP8866 combines the lowest power consumption with a simplified software interface making it an excellent choice for portable systems which require a high number of LEDs that need to be independently controlled. Such requirements are commonly found in keypad lighting, LCD lighting and analysis lighting applications. Evaluation boards are available, providing engineers with the necessary tools to implement their designs quickly and efficiently while reducing time to market.
