VITEC Multimedia, a provider of leading edge digital video products and technology since 1988, introduces VMC-5400TM, a capture and compression board designed for developers and integrators of mission critical video-based equipment and video broadcast applications.

VMC-5400TM delivers high quality real time H.264/AVC/MPEG-4 Part 10 encoding. This PCI board is fully autonomous and requires very limited CPU power from the host computer. It runs under Windows 2K & XP.

VMC-5400TM takes advantage of VITEC’s multi-DSP architecture offering unsurpassed flexibility, upgradeability and scalability needed for real time video advanced compression algorithms.

VMC-5400™ offers all kind of video and audio inputs:
- Digital inputs: video (SDI) and audio (embedded SDI and separate AES/EBU),
- Analog inputs: video (YUV, RGB, S-Video, Composite) and audio (balanced and unbalanced stereo).

VMC-5400™ supports video resolutions from QCIF up to FD1 (720x480x30fps or 720x576x25fps) at main profile at level 3 (MP@L3). The bitrate of the MPEG stream can be selected in the range from 64 Kbit/s to 10 Mbit/s.

VMC-5400TM offers advanced features including:
- CABAC (powerful option which achieves higher compression ratio),
- Pause/Resume,
- Split mode (consecutive frame accurate files generation of a defined length),
- Preview video on the host screen,
- Audiometer overlay,
- Capture still image while encoding,
- Streaming option.

VMC-5400TM includes an easy and powerful SDK (Software Development Kit) in the Livewire™ framework for rapid integration.
VITEC’s Technical Centers located in France and in US provide direct and high level technical support to developers.
