ACAL Technology has announced the signing of a pan-European agreement to distribute Precision Magnetic and Pressure Sensors products from Honeywell. The agreement introduces magnetic and pressure sensors to ACAL’s linecard and follows increased demand from customers for sensors for use in applications such as GPS-enabled or other navigation products, as well as in air data systems, unmanned vehicles, test and measurement, and process control.
Design-in support will be provided by local ACAL offices in 11 countries throughout Europe: UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

ACAL’s Steve Carr, European Sales Manager, explained, “The outlook for GPS systems is defying current trends, with some analysts predicting a strong growth in 2009 as personal navigation widens its reach into new products such as cameras, laptops and sports equipment. By supporting the rapid development of highly differentiated products we will enable our customers to tap into this vast potential in addition to supporting new designs for pressure sensors in traditional applications.”

Keith Nootbaar, Sr. Director Microelectronics and Precision Sensors of Honeywell added, “We believe that this agreement with ACAL will better serve our common customers with a broader range of skills which will ultimately support faster design cycles. This agreement that includes across-the-board design capabilities and resources, strengthens our technical and customer focus.”

Honeywell magnetic and pressure sensors are recognised worldwide, for their reliability. Magnetic sensors are used extensively in personal navigation products in the telecommunications, automotive and industrial sectors, as well as in applications where GPS is denied. The range comprises linear-mode low-field magnetic sensors, dead-reckoning modules, digital magnetometers and saturated-mode sensors. Honeywell’s range of pressure sensors comprises standard, rugged, explosion-proof and integrated precision transducers as well as a precision barometer.

In addition to local support, ACAL Technologies’ Design and Manufacturing Services Centre at Wokingham, UK, will provide extensive design-in resources for customers, such as technical specialists and a full range of in-house design and assembly facilities for end-to-end product development and systems integration.
