With the latest refresh of its Wireless Technology Solutions portfolio, RS Components (rswww.com), the leading distributor of electronic, electrical, electromechanical and industrial components is now able to offer customers the widest range of antennas currently available in the market.
Over 200 new products have been added to make RS wireless solutions the most complete offer from one source in the UK. These include products from industry-leading manufacturers such as Antenova, Navman, Taoglass, Micrel, LPRS, Atmel and Ezurio as well as a brand new range of RS own-brand antenna solutions. New products include 2.4GHz audio/video transmitters, ZigBee development kits, reference boards, mesh networking at low frequency, a complete range of internal and external antenna, GPS modules and power amplified Bluetooth products.

Highlights include the RS range of external antennas for covert vehicle tracking such as the GSM/GPS dome mount tri-band antenna. This low-profile robust antenna is one of the most versatile in the range. It offers coverage of both GSM bands, incorporating GPRS and GPS, making it well suited for AVL vehicle tracking applications and fleet management.

There are GSM/GPRS with GPS terminal kits from MC Technologies. Suited to asset monitoring and tracking, these quad band GSM terminals with built-in GPS are based on the Siemens XT65 and XT75 modules but only the XT75 offers EDGE (E-GPRS) multi-slot class 10.

The range also introduces Navman's high-performance SiRFstarIII based GPS receivers, including the Navman Jupiter 32 GPS receiver module, based on the SiRFstarIII chipset. These have been designed to address markets where high-performance, compact-size and low power are important. As the smallest GPS receiver currently available, the Navman Jupiter 32 GPS measures only 15.0mm x 17.0mm x 2.7mm and weighs just 2.0g. This 20-channel ultra-sensitive device can track down to -159dBi with a maximum peak draw of 57mA to deliver powerful performance in weak signal areas. It is capable of tracking 20 satellites simultaneously with a horizontal accuracy of 2.2m (CEP), 5m 2 dRMS.

Micrel's QwikRadio family of ASK/OOK (amplitude shift-keyed/on-off-keyed), highly integrated single-chip RF ICs have also been added to the range. These receivers are true antenna-in, data-out devices and the transmitter is an equivalent data-in, antenna-out part. Both the transmitter and receivers require no hand-tweaking with trimmer capacitors, as all tuning is performed automatically on-board the devices. QwikRadio offers the lowest overall parts-count of any ASK/OOK receivers and transmitters on the market. They are suitable for applications with ranges below 90 metres (300 feet) and data rates below 10Kbps, like handheld controllers and keyFOBs.

The comprehensive RS Wireless range now offers products covering all of the technologies from AM to ZigBee, including GSM/GPRS/EDGE, AM/FM, modems, RFID and 2.4GHz W-LAN, from components through to modules and kits. All are in stock for free next day delivery with no minimum order value. To see the complete range visit http://rswww.com/electronics
