Yageo Corporation has announced that it has entered into partnership with original equipment manufacturers and original design manufacturers to promote wireless solutions in Europe, backed by advanced ceramic technology. In addition to partnerships with OEMs and ODMs, Yageo will extend collaboration with key distributors, including Rutronik, TTI, Arrow, Avnet and Abacus, to strengthen the technical and design-in support available to customers for high-frequency antennas. The move is also expected to cover independent design centres in every European country.
Yageo has made steady progress in the wireless market, having received global customer approval for its active high-frequency antennas, which have been widely adopted in emerging applications such as Bluetooth, WLAN dongles, Wi-Fi, and wireless appliances. To help customers to develop highly differentiated advanced wireless products, and bring them to market in the shortest possible time, Yageo is planning a 50 percent increase in the number of Field Applications Engineers (FAE), to deliver dedicated local support in every major European country. This, combined with extensive distributor partnerships, will allow Yageo to provide leading technical and design-in services, and to work with customers to meet the dynamic market demand for wireless solutions.

David Huang, CEO of Yageo Corporation said, “After streamlining existing marketing channels, we are consolidating our commitment to the European market by providing supports for high-frequency antennas to OEM and ODM customers, and to our distribution network. This commitment is being actively implemented in a number of end-customers, with customised solutions delivered through the local Field Application Engineering (FAE) service. This FAE service is strengthened by our in-house facility in Hungary, which is ready to provide sophisticated technical support, and by our ability to promptly optimise product characteristics for different applications.

Further support for fast development of customers’ new advanced wireless products will be provided by the immediate availability of sample stocks of Yageo antennas from their factory in Hungary, and by Yageo’s proposed European test chamber which will enable accurate measurement and testing of customer products.

In Europe, demand for wireless modules is booming, thanks to rapidly growing Third Generation (3G) network and wireless communications. Examples of 3G applications include navigation, tracking systems and multimedia consumer electronics, such as GPS in handheld devices, PDAs and PNDs. Yageo’s enhanced technical service will allow the company, and its customers, to benefit from this booming market and sustain Yageo’s brand awareness in Europe

According to Berg Insight, global shipments of GPS-enabled handsets are expected to grow at a compounded annual rate of 26.2%, from 175 million units in 2007, to 560 million units in 2012. Rapid adoption of GPS technology in mass-market GSM/WCDMA handsets will be the main driver. By 2009, GPS will be ubiquitous in all high-end handsets as increasing penetration for GPS in GSM/WCDMA handsets triggers a wave of innovations in the field of location-based services. With leading antenna material technology, Yageo is positioned to benefit from the escalating 3G network and wireless communication segments.
