Wi-Fi 6 iFEMs maximise capacity and range

Now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics are the QPF7551 and QPF7552 integrated front-end modules (iFEMs) from Qorvo.

Providing reliable, whole-home coverage when designed into Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) systems, the iFEMs incorporate Qorvo’s advanced bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filter technology with unique bandBoost capability, which enables consumers to fully enjoy the speed advantages of mesh home networks that broadcast concurrently on three different channels.

These Wi-Fi 6 iFEMs integrate a 5 GHz power amplifier (PA) optimised for a 5 V supply voltage, which saves power while maintaining high linear output power.

Qorvo’s bandBoost filtering technology maximises capacity and range by boosting band isolation in distributed Wi-Fi 6 systems.

In addition to the PA and filter, the modules include a bypassable low-noise amplifier (LNA) and a single-pole, two-throw (SP2T) switch in a single module, which reduces board size by as much as 30% and simplifies design requirements.

The modules also offer 5 GHz rejection for dual-band dual-concurrent (DBDC) operation, as well as integrated die-level filtering for second and third harmonics.

The QPF7551 and QPF7552 iFEMs are ideal for a range of connectivity solutions, including wireless routers, access points, residential gateways, Wi-Fi customer premises equipment, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

For development, the QPF7551EVB and QPF7552EVB evaluation boards are available to order from Mouser.
