The nRF21540 RF front-end modules (FEMs) from Nordic Semiconductor are now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics

These RF FEMs support Bluetooth Low Energy, IEEE 802.15.4 range extensions, and proprietary applications.

They offer a configurable gain power amplifier in the transmit path (Tx) and a low-noise amplifier (LNA) in the receive path (Rx).

The highly configurable gain in the transmit state enables the application to implement adaptive gain control algorithms.

These modules can be controlled through IO pins and/or through the SPI interface, or a combination of both by writing to an internal control register.

The nRF21540 devices come in an industry-standard 4mm x 4mm QFN16 package.

The nRF21540 RF FEMs are the complementary devices optimised to boost the link budget of the nRF52 and nRF53 Series advanced multi-protocol wireless systems-on-chips (SoCs).

These devices act as plug-and-play range extenders offering enhanced link robustness for use in low power short-range wireless solutions.

Typical applications for the nRF21540 FEMs include smart-homes, industrial and factory automation, asset tracking, medical, sports and fitness, beacons, and advanced CE remote controls.
