Designed for civil air traffic control and weather radar applications, M/A-COM Technology Solutions has introduced a high power pulsed amplifier. The S-band device operates from 2.7 to 3GHz and features 7W of pulsed power and 23dB small signal gain in a 6mm PQFN 28-lead SMT package.

Designed to provide rugged performance under load mismatch, the MAAP-011022 has a balanced architecture which enables a very robust solution with excellent return loss across the frequency band and high performance under demanding VSWR load conditions. MACOM’s advanced 0.5µm pHEMT processes enables increased integration at the MMIC level. It features +10V bias operation and 50Ω impedance.

Paul Beasly, Product Manager, M/A-COM Technology Solutions, commented: “The MAAP-011022 is suited to S-band pulsed aviation and weather radar applications. The device provides a fully matched, SMT solution with highly rugged balanced configuration that we believe will perform well under demanding conditions.”

Encapsulated in a halogen-free, environmentally friendly mold compound, the MAAP-011022 is RoHS compliant, 260° reflow compatible and operates at an 8% duty cycle. Production quantities and samples of MAAP-011022 are available from stock.
