Authorised distributor Mouser Electronics is now shipping the ST87M01 ultra-compact, low-power narrowband (NB-IoT) industrial modules from STMicroelectronics.

This high-performance, fully programmable industrial module series covers worldwide cellular frequency bands and offers advanced security features.

They are the ideal choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications that require Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) connectivity, including smart grids, smart buildings, smart infrastructure, and industrial monitoring and factory automation.

These modules are also suitable for tracking applications, safety monitoring for remote workers, and general intelligent logistics.

They provide extended multi-regional Long Term Evolution (LTE) coverage for a wide range of applications.

Featuring an integrated native Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver with multi-constellation, the ST87M01 modules provide accurate location tracking. The ST87M01 modules also include Wi-Fi positioning and Wireless M-Bus configuration options. The STM8701 offers a fully programmable IoT platform, allowing designers to embed code directly in the modules for simple applications.

For more sophisticated use cases, the modules can also be combined with a separate microcontroller.

The ST87M01 modules are delivered in an ultra-compact 10.6 x 12.8mm LGA package, enabling device miniaturisation without compromising performance.

They boast ultra-low <2µA power consumption in low-power mode, transmit output power up to +23dBm, and operate in an industrial temperature range of -40 to +85°C.

The ST87M01 industrial modules are EU Radio Equipment Directive (RED) compliant and feature an optional GSMA-compliant embedded SIM with an additional secure element (SE).
