Distributor Mouser Electronics is expanding its portfolio of wireless connectivity products to meet growing demand from many technologies.

Wireless connectivity meets daily life applications, from robust and precise automotive positioning to enabling satellite based IoT connectivity for geographically remote assets.

Without the provision of wireless communication, none of these applications would be possible. As an area of technology that is constantly evolving, keeping pace with the latest innovative wireless modules is key for any application’s success.

New wireless product highlights available from Mouser include the following:

•    Supporting LoRaWAN applications, the LR1121 IC from Semtech is an ultra-low power, long range multiband transceiver. It covers the global ISM frequency bands in the range of 150 MHz to 960 MHz as well as 2.4 GHz, and the satellite 2.1 GHz S band. It supports any combination of modulation methods, including LoRa, (G)FSK, and Long Range FHSS (LR-FHSS) and provides compliance with ETSI EN300 220, FCC CFR 47 Part 15 and other wireless regulatory standards. The LR1121 contains a cryptographic engine capable of AES-128 encryption and decryption algorithms and is fully compatible with SX1261/2/8 devices and the LoRaWAN standard. An integrated power amplifier provides up to +22 dBm in the sub-GHz spectrum and up to +11 dBm at 2.4 GHz. The Semtech LR1121 transceiver suits a wide variety of use cases, from smart metering and smart city applications through to monitoring agricultural sensors and tracking assets.

•    The nRF7002 by Nordic Semiconductor is a Wi-Fi 6 companion IC that enables ultra-low power connectivity for a wide range of battery powered Wi-Fi products, such as smart home applications, industrial IoT sensors, and wellness wearable devices. It supports non-Nordic host devices but has been designed to work alongside Nordic’s established nRF52/nRF53 series Bluetooth SoCs and the highly integrated nRF9160 cellular IoT system-in-package (SiP). The nRF7002 supports all Matter protocols and Thread mesh networks. To support Wi-Fi 6 prototyping, the Nordic nRF7002-DK development kit includes a Nordic nRF5340 multiprotocol SoC host and permits the trialling of Wi-Fi 6 features such as OFDMA (orthogonal frequency-division multiple access), beam forming, and setting the target wake-up time (TWT).

•    Designed for the growing ecosystem of spatial context awareness use-cases, the Type 2BP ultra-wideband (UWB) module from Murata provides secure and precise distance ranging using time of flight (ToF) measurements in addition to accurate location detection. Operating in the 6250 MHz to 8250 MHz spectrum, the module supports up to three antennas enabling 2D or 3D angle-of-arrival (AoA) and incorporates NXP’s SR150 Trimension UWB chipset, clock and filters. This highly integrated approach greatly simplifies UWB wireless development and certification. To further aid prototyping, the Murata Type2BP UWB evaluation kit comprises an NXP QN9090 Bluetooth Low Energy microcontroller SoC, PCB patch antenna, and all interface and level-shifting components.
