Ascom i62 VoWiFi delivers longer battery life, enhances enterprise productivity. Powered by Redpine Signals’ ultra-low power .11n chipset
Ascom Wireless Solutions has announced that their new VoWiFi Ascom i62 handset delivers longer battery life and enhances enterprise productivity due to the Lite-Fi® ultra-low power 802.11n chipset from Redpine Signals, Inc.



Stefan Brämberg, Vice President of Technology for Ascom Wireless Solutions says, “Having seen the clear trend of wireless networks in enterprise based on the 802.11n protocol, we decided to equip our new generation phone with .11n capability. Redpine’s pioneering .11n chipset and their Wi-Fi expertise enabled us to solve a number of challenges involved in launching an 802.11n handset.”



Venkat Mattela, CEO of Redpine Signals says, “Our Lite-Fi chipset used in the Ascom i62 handset includes a host of innovative features that bring high wireless performance, robust connectivity, advanced enterprise wide roaming capability, and extremely low energy consumption.”



The new Ascom i62 VoWiFi handset, available globally, replaces the previous model, the Ascom i75 and offers a new sleek design, high-resolution colour TFT display, is IP44 classified, offers a longer battery time, as well as a range of other upgrades. The Ascom i62 operates in the 5 GHz band, in addition to 2.4 GHz. The significantly lower traffic density in the higher band greatly reduces non-productive power consumption during packet retries and waiting for transmit opportunity.



“Looking beyond the successful introduction of the Ascom product with our ultra-low power 5GHz 802.11n connectivity, we believe we will be able to provide Ascom’s future products with cutting edge connectivity, including support for upcoming standards,” adds Venkat Mattela.
