Canada’s largest GSM provider certifies u-blox’ LEON module

u-blox announces the official certification by Rogers Wireless of LEON, u-blox’ miniature GSM/GPRS voice and data module. Rogers is Canada’s largest wireless service provider and largest GSM mobile carrier with over 7 million subscribers.

“Approval by Rogers Wireless means end-products embedding LEON will have wireless access to 94% of the population of Canada.” said Nikolaos Papadopoulos, President of u-blox America. “Thanks to Rogers’ comprehensive service coverage, LEON can enable large-scale applications such as shore-to-shore vehicle, people and asset tracking, and country-wide automatic meter reading services.”

Canada joins a long list of country and standards organizations, as well as operators who have certified LEON including AT&T, FCC, PTCRB, China (SRRC), Brazil (Anatel), South Africa (ICASA), Russia (GOST) and Taiwan (NCC).
