Yamaha Robotics unveiled the YRM20DL dual-lane mounter for the first time in Europe at Productronica 2023, along with new features of its smart-factory software tools.

The YRM20DL was presented as part of the 1 STOP SMART SOLUTION, alongside the latest equipment. Yamaha received the ‘Global Technology Awards’ trophy for this advanced machine during a celebration at the booth.

The YRM20DL is the first dual-lane mounter offering flexibility for both high-volume and high-mix production on the same platform, connecting efficiently with Yamaha's YRP10DL dual-lane printer and YRi-V DL dual-lane 3D AOI system.

Daisuke Yoshihara, General Sales Manager, expressed his satisfaction: “Productronica 2023 has been a great success, with the European debut of the YRM20DL and our exciting win in the Global Technology Awards high-volume pick-and-place category. We welcomed many visitors, including new contacts and current, valued customers, keen to discover the latest innovations in our 1 STOP SMART SOLUTION and advanced, intelligent software tools.”

Smart-factory software tools

Kamil Stasiak, Project Manager at Yamaha, showcased the new smart-factory tools at the booth and during a presentation at the Productronica Forum. The YSUP Dashboard now features Automatic Analysis, identifying causes of mounter pickup errors and inspection failures without relying on operator judgement. Additional features analyse and verify component placement and print results.

The 1 STOP SMART SOLUTION displayed at Productronica includes Yamaha’s latest YR series surface-mount machines, which offer accuracy, stability, and features for enhanced speed and efficiency. The YRP10 premium printer automates tasks like stencil changeover and solder-paste transfer. The YRM20 mounter allows for continuous cart and feeder changes. The YRi-V 3D AOI system, now integrated with AI, improves component recognition, simplifies programming, reduces cycle time, and enhances inspection accuracy.

Industrial robots in action

Visitors also witnessed Yamaha’s industrial robots demonstrating their capabilities in assembly, picking, placing, and moving tasks with speed and precision. The LCMR200 programmable workpiece transport solution, working alongside Yamaha’s SCARA and cartesian robots, accelerates light manufacturing tasks and enhances flexibility.

The real-time tracking of LCMR200 sliders improves traceability and simplifies system maintenance. Special circulation units for the LCMR200 enable the configuration of 2D and 3D transport networks, even in space-constrained environments.
