Industrial digital I/O offers multiple configurations

The MAX14906 industrial digital output/digital input (digital I/O) from Maxim Integrated is in stock at Mouser Electronics.

The Maxim MAX14906 is an IEC 61131-2 compliant, high-speed, four-channel industrial digital I/O can be configured on a per-channel basis as a high-side switch, push-pull driver, or a Type 1 and 3, or Type 2 digital input.

It is specified for operation with a supply voltage up to 40 V and is tolerant of transients up to 65 V.

The high-side switch current limiting is settable from 130 mA to 1.2 A with the option of double-load inrush current.

Typical high-side driver on-resistance is 120 mΩ at 25 degrees Celsius ambient temperature.

Optional push-pull operation allows high-speed driving of cables and fast discharge of load capacitance.

For digital input operation, current sinks for 2.3 mA (Type 1 and 3) or 7 mA (Type 2) are provided.

The MAX14906 device is supported by the Maxim MAX14906EVKIT evaluation kit, which monitors the MAX14906 diagnostic information, including open-wire condition, state of the output channels, multiple undervoltage alarms, global and per-channel overtemperature alarms, and multiple fault alarms.

Applications for the MAX14906 include robotics, motor control, and PLC systems.
