The multiparticulate microspheres either don’t stick to each other sufficiently or stick too readily, each creating its own problems. They’re also affected by the humidity of their environment. Satchels or packs have been previously developed to deliver multiparticulates, but they don’t produce accurate dosages, among other limitations.
HS Design has unveiled its new Sympfiny system for dispensing multiparticulate medications much like traditional liquid meds that are taken orally.
The drugs come in a container from which accurate dosages can be withdrawn using what looks like a traditional liquid meds syringe. The same syringe is used to administer the drugs into the mouth, using a one handed intuitive motion just like a normal syringe.
The Sympfiny prevents spillage and clogs, and the connector that meets the drug container helps avoid any contamination. The product can be customised for specific applications, hopefully helping to make multiparticulate drugs more readily available.
