Element14, in collaboration with Schneider Electric, has announced the ‘Experimenting with Industrial Automation Design Challenge’.

This initiative calls on engineers, makers, and technology enthusiasts to explore the realm of industrial automation and demonstrate their inventive capabilities.

The challenge underscores the importance of industrial automation in modern industry. It plays a crucial role in streamlining manual processes and boosting productivity in various fields, including manufacturing and logistics. Through this challenge, members of the element14 Community are invited to display their creativity in industrial automation.

Participants in the challenge will receive a comprehensive kit of industrial automation components. They are encouraged to design experiments that delve into the implementation of various industrial processes such as painting, cutting, drilling, conveying, assembling, material handling, packaging, inspecting, testing, or welding.

Randall Scasny, Senior Community Content Specialist at element14, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to launch the Experimenting with Industrial Automation Design in collaboration with Schneider Electric. This challenge empowers our community members to experiment, learn, and create all while harnessing the power of industrial automation components.”

The challenge is open to all members of the element14 Community, with registration available on the community's website. The application period is currently open and will conclude on 15th December, with applicants being selected on 22nd December. Participants must submit their projects and blogs by 28th February 2024, with winners set to be announced in March 2024.

Prizes for the challenge include:

  • Grand Prize: an Arbitrary Waveform Generator and Rework Station from Multicomp Pro, totaling approximately $1200
  • Runner-up Prize: a Bench Digital Multimeter from Multicomp Pro and a Smart LED Starter Kit from Philips, totalling approximately $600
  • Finisher Prize: all participants who complete the competition (excluding the grand prize and runner-up winners) will receive an Amazon Echo Dot Smart Speaker
