Shorter lead time for cabling harness aids rail manufacturer
By reducing lead times for delivery by over 10 weeks in response to a complicated and exacting RFQ, RF Industries has provided a major locomotive manufacturer with a custom wire harness for power and data.
A BOM featuring components and recommended suppliers with an excessively long lead time meant that the customer's required delivery dates were unlikely to be met. The customer also required a partially manufactured assembly, with preparations for final assembly in the field.
With extensive experience in manufacturing cable assemblies in accordance with IPM/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 Standard, RF Industries Multi-Conductor Group's procurement team was able to source, recommend and co-ordinate component substitutions with its client, providing satisfaction by achieving a significantly reduced delivery lead time.
