Mouser Electronics is now stocking the BGT60ATR24C XENSIV 60GHz radar monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) from Infineon Technologies.

Using ultra-wide bandwidth Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave (FMCW) operation, the MMIC can address numerous passive safety applications like child detection, driver monitoring, and occupancy sensing due to its ability to sense micro motions aesthetically. It has been designed for ultra-short-range applications with best-in-class jitter performance, ultra-low power consumption, wideband operation and robustness, and is ideal for in-cabin automotive monitoring systems.

The MMIC is a fully integrated radar transceiver operating in the frequency band from 58 GHz to 62 GHz.

It is a state-of-the-art radar chip featuring two transmit channels, four receive channels, a low noise Phase Locked Loop (PLL), an integrated anti-aliasing Loop Filter (LF), a sequencer and finite state machine for ramp generation, an integrated RX baseband including analogue to digital conversion (ADC), sensor ADCs for temperature and power monitoring, all within a single chip. The digitized time signals are forwarded via the SPI interface to the application controller, where they can be processed further.

The BGT60ATR24C features a digital interface for sensor configuration and data acquisition, as well as an integrated state machine for independent data acquisition. The radar MMIC includes optimized power modes for low power consumption.

The BGT60ATR24C XENSIV 60GHz Radar MMIC is supported by the SHIELD 60ATR24ES 01 demo board.

It features a pre-mounted BGT60ATR24C in a 6 mm x 6 mm package, along with support circuitry and an onboard L-shaped antenna. This demo board enables prototyping for various use cases, including presence detection, proximity sensing, people counting and tracking, gesture recognition, monitoring vital signs and more.
