NMi acquires Young Calibration in buy-and-build strategy
NMi announced its acquisition of Young Calibration, a UKAS accredited calibration laboratory and component testing laboratory with knowledge and experience in thermal fluid systems testing, component cleanliness and air flow calibration.
This acquisition, closed on 26 October 2021, marks the first step in the NMi buy-and-build strategy.
“The Young Calibration acquisition strengthens our UK footprint and broadens our testing and calibration capabilities,” said Yvo Jansen, NMi CEO. “It’s unique expertise across multiple sectors, bolstered by technical knowledge, quality processes, and facility capacity provide excellent sales and operations synergies.”
New regulations in the automotive and motorsports sectors promise to usher in demand for increased testing requirements. Young Calibration managing director, Adrian Young, added, “Given anticipated industry changes and the general growth of the calibration and thermal fluid systems market, NMi is a logical partner to help accelerate our growth with further accreditation services and expansion into the legal metrology field.”
Headquartered in Shoreham-by-Sea in the UK, Young Calibration also offers a strategic opportunity, post Brexit, for both organisations to regain or expand market access for their OEM clients. Additionally, with the pace of change in the electrical vehicle market, Young Calibration UK facilities offer a solid basis to further expand NMi electrical vehicle charging system services and capabilities. NMi is delighted it’s been given the opportunity to invest, grow and work with the skilled team at Young Calibration.
“We are extremely pleased to support NMi in the completion of its first acquisition since LLCP investment in the company,” says David Cowan, LLCP Sr. managing director. “This is a highly complementary and exciting opportunity for the company to both expand their capabilities and their geographical reach.”
“We congratulate Yvo Jansen and his team on their first acquisition. When we invested in NMi we saw enormous potential in growing the company both organically and through acquisitions and we are thrilled to see the success on both fronts,” says Wouter Snoeijers, LLCP managing director.
