A new family of connection systems from Delphi Automotive for demanding applications such as construction equipment and commercial, agricultural and marine vehicles, is now available to customers in Asia-Pacific. Delphi's Harsh Environment Series (HES) offers SAE J2030-validated 24 shell size circular connectors, pin and sleeve terminals and 50-way and 60-way header systems with 10 indexes. The HES connection systems will be on display at the electronica China 2012 Show here this week
With the introduction of the Harsh Environment Series, we are able to translate Delphi's proven history of advanced crimping and connector design into real value for our customers by preventing dirt, dust and water from entering their electrical connections, said Brenton Smith, director, global product line management, Delphi Connection Systems. The robust design provides a high-performance, high-power connection system for the rugged environments in which commercial, agricultural and marine vehicles operate.

Delphi's HES circular connection systems are compatible with existing systems and integrate into vehicle manufacturers' existing applications. They are ideally suited for making connections in a firewall pass-through location, are especially useful in engine compartments and designed for use in any high-density, in-line application. They can also be used in harsh environment automotive applications.

This exclusive three-rib design delivers HES circular sealing performance improvements of up to 30 percent over existing designs, and recessed ribs enable the use of a tight wire dress without compromising sealing properties.

Delphi's terminal design delivers the power customers demand with maximum current ratings and superior crimp stability over its life. The HES terminal design incorporates SAE, DIN, and JIS cable standards, and offers crimp configurations adaptable to a wide range of cable sizes. Terminal retention improves up to 40 percent when compared to existing designs.

Customers have many options with Delphi's HES industry standard circular connection system 24 shell size, including 47-, 31-, 29-, 23-, 21-, and 19-way terminal configurations, all with the capability to use a back shell for conduit when desired.

Delphi's HES 50-way and 60-way header system is designed to withstand high vibration (29 Grms) and uses a fluorosilcone face seal to make it ideal for engine mount applications. The headers maintain .225 mm true pin position to ensure easy mounting to circuit board and Delphi's unique two-stage terminal retainer system in the header connector virtually eliminates unseats during the build process.

Delphi continuously launches new products to meet the needs of the global transportation and commercial markets. A complete portfolio of connection systems, including miniaturized connections, helps deliver high power safely and keeps drivers connected with high-speed data.
